A Toddler’s Growth and Development

A Toddler’s Growth and Development

Parenting toddlers is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. They seem to have a number of antics that make you feel shameful in front of other people or in public.

But what if those inappropriate things are actually beneficial for their growth and development? In this blog, we will be talking about the seemingly insane activities or probable hobbies toddlers engage in and the benefits they can get from it.

  • Moving around

Toddlers are small balls of energy. Sometimes, you stare at them in total exhaustion and wish the energy would just transfer to you. And what do you do out of frustration? You yell at them to sit still.

That, dear parents, is not healthy for you and for your children. You see, these little balls of energy have that amount of energy for a reason. This is the time of their life where they develop motor skills which are essential as they grow older.

  • Asking many questions

It turns out that the process of asking questions is a sign that they are curious about stuff. And when we mean stuff, we mean everything.

Curiosity is one of the most underrated yet essential skills there is. Individuals need to be constantly curious about everything in order to be able to help provide solutions to the various problems they might face in the future. If you stop toddlers from being curious, you stop them from developing their creative problem solving skills.

  • Making a mess

Once you leave your child anywhere, chances are you will come back and see them make an absolute mess. Then, you’d have to wonder how they created such a mess and then clean it up afterwards. The problems seem to pile one after the other.

But, did you know that when they make a mess, they are learning about stuff? This is how children gain information from the things around them. So, which do you prefer, a clean child who learns less or a messy child who has learned a lot from his or her messy adventure?

  • Dilly-dallying

Children often take their time in doing things. For that reason, you do these things for them. This unintentionally rips them from the privilege of learning to do things on their own.

Toddlers have a different pace in learning. But, you all do agree that they need to be ready to respond to the world that follows a certain time.

Being a Daycare and Preschool Provider in Forest Hills, New York, Baby Steps Daycare/Preschool knows exactly how toddlers can be such a handful to handle. However, our programs and facilities serve as a venue for children to socialize and be equipped with skills they need to be able to prepare for a more formal way of learning: kindergarten and the big school.

Those are just some of the annoying things children do that are beneficial for their growth. We believe there are more. Do you have experiences to share?

So what are the things your toddlers do that drive you crazy? You might not know it, but those things are actually their way of learning. Tell us about your experiences.
