Fun and Education - The Best of Both Worlds for Kids

How to be Involved in Your Child’s Education

Who is your kid’s first teacher? Is it their very first preschool teacher? Is it their grandmother? No. You, their parents, are their first teacher. You taught them how flush the toilet after they pee. You even taught them how to pee on the first place. They learned all the basic stuff from you ranging from different tools to manners.

As you enroll your child to Baby Steps Daycare / Preschool, your partner in your child’s education and a Daycare and Preschool provider in Forest Hills, New York, our teachers are the ones who will take it from there. They are now the people whom your child looks up to when it comes to providing them the information they need in the future. But this does not mean you have no further involvement in their learning. So here are 5 ways on how you can be involved to the learning and education of your beloved child.

1. Start learning
Once when humans were still nomads, the parents are the ones who taught their children everything from skills like cooking, hunting, reading and exploring to values like patience, obedience, honesty and respect. Today, as we mentioned earlier, it does not change. Parents are the ones who first transmit the needed knowledge to their children. Schools are just there to reinforce and add on to that learning. Be a good role model for learning.

2. Notice your child’s interests
Pay attention to the interests of your child. Figure out if he or she is a talker or a shy spirit. Find out the different things he or she likes and then help them explore it. Allow them to show you why they are interested in that sort of thing and why they like to learn more of it.

3. Resonate with the way your child learns
There are different types of learners and as a Daycare and Preschool provider in Forest Hills, New York; we take note of each of one. Learners are categorized in 3 types: the visual learners, the auditory learners and the kinesthetic learners. It is vital for you to know which type your child is in so that when you review or do their home works at home, you can effectively deliver the information to them easily.

4. Let learning continue at home
Let your young learner learn in a non-pressured way. Do not let the knowledge they acquired that day to stay at school. It does not mean that you need to make different drills for them to succeed. You make drills and activities to let them learn. Review the different things they need to learn when they feel like reviewing. Never force them to do these reviews. Instead, motivate them.

5. Help your child how to learn on their own
Tutors do not exist in order to help the pupil make their own assignment. They exist in order to teach the pupil how they can make their assignments on their own. As a Daycare and Preschool provider in Forest Hills, New York, we believe that parents need to display the beauty and fun of learning. Motivate them to learn and reward them if ever they have shown a positive attitude towards learning and in making their home works.
